Moments of Clarity Podcast Episode 44

Choosing Expansion

Today on Moments of Clarity, I speak to Jeff Lester.

Jeff or Jefe as he is affectionately known is a yoga and meditation instructor, a sacred spaces facilitator and a coach. Before the pandemic, Jeff was a self-described nomad travelling around the world to conduct his work and connect with people. Jeff still finds immense joy with his work but has moved mostly into the online space, based in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.

During our conversation we discuss Jeff's work in the age of Covid, how to overcome overstimulation, reducing fear and anxiety, meditation, getting into nature, finding Yoga, pivotal moments and aligning the self.

We delve into Jeff’s childhood, intrinsic vs external motivation, choosing not to sacrifice passion and love for safety, practice as the pathway to transformation, the importance of paying attention, vulnerability and being humble.

Jeff explores how language shapes us, how our choice of words solidifies our story, the benefits of expansion over contraction, the failure of outcome oriented approaches, paradigm shifts and shattering existing perceptions, empowering ourselves in the face of expectation and fear, being open and fluid and he shares a moment of clarity.

Moments of Clarity is a podcast that aims to explore the inherent goodness of human beings. Through longform conversations with inspiring people, MoC looks to find out how people come to not only identify their values and but live by them each and every day. It is time to put the outrage and certainty behind us and start to actually listen to others and use their stories and beliefs to help understand our own values. Moments of Clarity is created, edited and hosted by Matthew Sortino. Sortino is a teacher based in Melbourne, Australia.
