Hello fellow human :)
Thank you for visiting my site! My name is Jeff, and sometimes Jefe depending on who you ask.
I come to you from Southeast USA, raised on a steady diet of conservative talk radio and second hand cigarette smoke. The person I have become, the life I have chosen for myself, is a mindful and ethically conscious international yoga teacher and globetrotter.
Yes, it has been one helluva journey and I am so grateful. This beautiful journey has allowed me to witness many different views and perspectives in our world. Let me share with you a taste of my journey and what brought us together right here, right now.
For the first 20 years of my life, I was a “victim” of the circumstances around me. I was morbidly overweight and allowed the stress from family drug abuse, verbal abuse, and suicides surrounding me to manifest itself in the form of 120 pounds of extra fat on my body. Until enough was enough, and some much needed separation allowed me to step firmly into my own and say NO MORE!
My fate completely changed the moment I chose strength from those adversities instead of self doubt and pity. It was that journey of weight loss, health, and fitness which ultimately led me to my first ever yoga class. And yet there was still more self discovery to be had… It was another 3 years of studying at university before I really realized that I was not studying for myself at all, it was to please or impress those around me with a fancy engineering degree. I don’t regret any of these things, they have made me who I am today and have brought many wonderful people and experiences into my life. I began teaching Spin classes, then bootcamp classes, and then I fell in love with an incredible running community. I began surrounding myself with my new found passions and people who shared those with me. It was community. I became an avid fitness enthusiast, nutrition “expert”, and a marathon runner!
In 2014, shortly after quitting half way through a master’s degree in engineering in France, I found myself in London for the sake of my true interests of health, fitness and wellness. I was there with a plan that extended no further than: “I have an idea of what I like to do and this is the place I want to do it” and it wasn’t until my unexpected discovery of The House of Yoga in London that things started to become crystal clear. After a few short months, yoga quickly moved from a physical workout to something much more meaningful to me. I began to view my practice as something much bigger and bursting with possibilities. There were still many demons from the past, including disordered eating patterns and even my mother’s untimely death, that I turned to yoga for healing. Simply put, I put my faith in yoga (i.e. MYSELF) to change and to grow into what I believed was possible. I asked and I received. I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training in 2016 with The House of Yoga, the place that started it all, and began teaching around London immediately. It was my dream born into reality, however life (an expired visa) pulled my yoga journey towards India for more learning and development of my practice in order to better share with others.
I travelled around the country for five months. India was like an eye opening, life changing, cosmic event that I’ll never be able to fully describe with words. My time thereafter was a journey spent enriching my life through a genuine pursuit of yoga. Visiting and practicing at many unique ashrams has given me incredible insight into the diversity of yoga in its homeland. In addition to teaching at many guest houses along my travels, I also completed a 10 day course in Vipasana meditation in Bodhgaya and an additional 200 hours of yoga teacher trainings in Yin yoga, Ayurveda, Mandala Vinyasa and Shamanism in Goa, India with The Yoga People.
And then I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to be a member of the Happy Jack Yoga team! If that’s not awesome, then I don’t know what is!!
I’ve been travelling, training, and teaching ever since. It has been a whirlwind of a dream come true. To merge my passion for travel and working with purpose. And, while this is my story of adversity, pain, and struggle turned to strength, love, understanding and compassion, I believe everyone is somewhere along in this journey. It is my mission to put yoga to use for the good of others and the good of our world. Yes, this makes me very happy, and I am so grateful to live and breathe what makes me happy. It is a gift I want to share with as many people as possible. So let’s connect and get started!
And to the person reading this… Please know that I want nothing more than to share my passion and love for yoga with you. To offer you a vigorous and authentic yoga experience that will inspire you to ask yourself new questions about what’s possible in your life. To offer you the fruits of my life insights and personal transformations and lead you to your own power by discovering that absolutely anything is possible when you live in alignment and that all you need to do is sharpen your practice in the studio and carry it with you in your daily life. Yes, all that in a yoga class!
